It is time for the world to glue their eyes to Buckingham Palace as the news of another engagement hits the headlines. According to CNN, the palace has announced the engagement of Princess Beatrice to businessman Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
“The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Beatrice to Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Her Royal Highness and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi became engaged in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020,” stated the official statement released by the Palace on 26 September 2019.
It was followed by a statement by the couple who expressed their joy in sharing the news with the world. “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married,” said the couple.
The Princess, who is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York has reportedly been dating the property tycoon for over two years now. However, they have known each other for many years. The Telegraph also confirmed that the groom-to-be has met with the queen along with his two-year-old son with ex-fiancée. Following the announcement, Mapelli Mozzi, took to Instagram to express her love for the Princess. He wrote, “You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home. Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever.”

The news that came less than a year after her younger sister, Princess Eugenie wedding, was gladly welcomed by family members. “We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride. We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man. We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future,” said the parents of the Princess. Her mother Sarah, Duchess of York called the news “sensational.” “I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news,” wrote the Duchess on Twitter.
Her sister too congratulated the two and posted some adorable pictures of the couple, photographed by her. “Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo,” wrote the Princess on Instagram.
The groom’s parents, Nikki Williams-Ellis and Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, too are delighted by the news. “Our family has known Beatrice for most of her life. Edo and Beatrice are made for each other, and their happiness and love for each other is there for all to see. They share an incredibly strong and united bond, their marriage will only strengthen what is already a wonderful relationship,” said the two in a joint statement. The groom-to-be also put up photos of the engagement.
Princess Beatrice, the granddaughter of the Queen and Prince Philip, is the ninth heir to the throne. She is also the cousin of Prince Harry and Prince William.
