’t really want a big birthday,” the Basic Instinct actor explained. “I threw a big party for him, it was great,” said the 75-year-old.
Then, he had a big birthday again when he turned 101. “101. You know, ‘OK, let’s have a nice party.’ ‘Again? I don’t…’ ‘Dad, it’s 101 years old. You have to have a birthday.’ 102…” he continued. However, the centenarian has had enough. He has requested for just a dinner with the kids in 2019.
“So he’s begging me, he’s got tears down his eyes. ‘Let’s just have dinner, the family together. Bring the kids,'” Michael joked, according to People.
Michael also revealed that his stepmom and Kirk’s wife, Anne Buydens, who is also in her hundreds doesn’t like admitting her age.
“She’s French and been lying about her age all her life. I say, ‘Anne, you’re going to be 100.’ ‘No, no, no. You don’t say that.’ ‘You’re going to be 100 this last year.’ ‘No, no, how dare you say that to me,'” he recalled about when she turned 100 in April 2019. “I said, ‘Anne, it doesn’t exist anymore. Wikipedia, you look it up and see exactly how old you are.’ She said, ‘Really?'” he joked, according to Fox News.
The iconic pair has been together for 65 years and their love for each other keeps growing. They believe that they are soulmates and that belief has given them an enduring love.
“Always remember darling, I need you… for you, I hope to do wonderful things in life. This is it—you and me and our family forever!” he told her once, according to Country Living. These iconic words from a letter he wrote to her made it into a book, Kirk and Anne: Letters of Love, Laughter, and a Lifetime in Hollywood, they worked on together, which reveals many of their intimate details.
Like any marriage, they have had their ups and downs, but they stood by each other during the good and the bad times. They have traversed through struggles like her cancer, his stroke, the loss of a child, and infidelity, but nothing shook their faith in each other. Their love is truly one of a kind.
After being through so much together, they renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary and had the big wedding they didn’t have the first time around. Buydens surprised him by converting to his religion, Judaism. In 2020, they will ring in 66 years of being together, and we wish them more healthy years to come.
