That’s it. You’re finally done with worry about everyone but yourself. You’ve decided that it’s time to take your life into your own hands because there’s no one who knows what’s best for you except for you. You’ve dealt with enough drama, pain, hurt, and stress for a long time and it’s your chance to be happy for yourself. And it all started when you stopped giving a damn about these eight things:
1. You don’t care to impress anyone but choose to live for yourself
For so long, everyone else has been on the top of your priority. Making them happy or trying to impress them was a major part of your life. But you stopped to think about where was your happiness in all of this. So you stopped caring about what other people constantly wanted from you and focussed on what you want. And it’s going well for you, isn’t it?
2. You no longer explain yourself to others
Having to constantly justify yourself is tiring so you gave up on it. After all, you’re a mature, grown woman who knows how to make an informed decision. It’s your life. Your experiences made you the woman you are, so you know what you want. Besides, even if you screamed yourself hoarse trying to explain yourself, they only hear what you’re saying but they’re not really listening.
3. You choose silence when it comes to haters
Wherever you go, there’ll always be someone who’ll try to bring you down. Where you may have tried to please everyone before, now you know the only way to truly shut them is by ignoring them. Quite frankly, it’s fun to watch them squirm as they attempt to find new ways to hurt you knowing that nothing is going to affect you anymore.
4. You love to rock the wrinkles and grey hair
There’s so much stigma surrounding aging that at one point even you were trying to beat time. But then you realized that if anything, those fine lines and grey strands actually make you look badass. After all, grey hair indicates wisdom and who better to show that than you?
5. You keep the past where it belongs… in the past
Worrying about the past gave you more stress than you should have had to bear. Now, you’re all about the present. It’s where all the fun and more special moments with your loved ones is happening. Not just that, you’re looking forward to a future that is far more in your control than when you were struggling with your past.
6. If someone doesn’t like you, you don’t bat an eye
Someone doesn’t like you? Who cares. Someone is badmouthing you? It’s their business. Someone is trying to bring you down? Meh. You’ve gone past the stage where trying to be liked by everyone was your top priority. You know that you’re far more interesting and worth it and if they can’t see that, well, they must be blind.
7. You trust your gut when it comes to choices
Second-guessing yourself used to be a part of your nature. Added to that, caring about what others thought was always influencing your decisions. But now, you know that you’re the best judge of the options and challenges that life throws your way. You trust yourself to make the right choice or at least learn from a bad one.
8. You accept yourself just as you are even if you aren’t where you want to be
Finally, after letting all of it go, you realize that you’re perfectly imperfect as you are. Even if it means you haven’t achieved a goal or you aren’t in a place you want to be. You rediscovered yourself and you accept the person you are. You don’t want to be anyone else but yourself.
